“Mad Mike Hughes” A Flat Earther

His plans to launch himself into space in homemade steam rocket nearly as far-fetched as what he is trying to prove. by Jack P. Mike Hughes, nicknamed “Mad Mike Hughes," is one of the US’s several resident flat-Earthers. He plans to launch himself into space using a homemade steam powered rocket that scientists only predict will be able to travel up to 500 mph and less than 2,000 feet high. Much less the 24,000 feet per second needed to reach even low orbit. A Boeing 747 flies higher than Hughes rocket. Mike Hughes with one of his test rockets Hughes believe that the Earth is flat and that all science is fake or false and it’s all a cover up by the people that “secretly control the world," h e explains in several of his youtube videos. One anonymous youtuber in the comment section of one of Hughes's videos commented “Just walk off the end of the world!” Mrs. Gianinno, a sixth-grade science teacher, expressed her concerns about Hughes, his mental health...

Is McDonald's The Best Ever?

By Eliot P. and Andy P. There are positive opinions about McDonald's from different people, but too much McDonald's is not healthy. It can really hurt your diet. Meals for some people can contain thousands of calories. I suggest that you don't go or only go once in awhile. But that doesn't stop many people from eating there, such as Miles O'Neill. One quote from Miles O'Neill about McDonald's that clearly shows he likes it is, “I like the 30 piece chicken nugget. And I also like a large fry. And I also like my two drinks the McFlurry and the medium soda. And I also like the Big Mac and the Jumbo Mac.” And we also heard a little bit from Scott Campbell. This is what he had to say: “My favorite meal at McDonald's is french fries and chicken fingers.” He also said it was very good and that he would definitely go back. Lots of people like McDonald's but lots of people avoid it and think it's gross. In my opinion, I love McDonald's...

Riverdale Review

by Jason O. Riverdale is a very popular and an amazing show. Riverdale is a show about a twin named Jason who mysteriously died. This town is affected by Jason’s death. They are affected because so many kids were close or good friends with him. His good friends try to get justice for Jason. What I like about this show is that it leaves you thinking. You get to solve the mystery with the characters in the show. You also get to take sides and “cheer” for your favorite character. My favorite character is Veronica because I think she has a lot of common sense. He is such a good friend to Archie and to Betty and to everyone else even when she has a lot of stuff going on at her house. I think that Betty’s dad killed him because there is a lot of evidence of him missing while important things happen. For example, all of Kevin’s dad’s wall of evidence mysteriously got destroyed while Betty’s dad wasn’t there. Another example is when Betty asked her dad if he killed Jason he was very quiet...

MA vs. AZ

By: Ryder G. I am a new 6th-grade student at Village School, and I have recently moved from Phoenix, Arizona.  Everyone has treated me well. but I wondered what they thought about the differences between Phoenix and Boston. Without a doubt, the biggest difference was the climate. Arizona could get up to 120 degrees if you are in the right place in the summer, and there is snow in Boston in the winter.  I asked a few of my fellow students what they thought about it being so hot in Arizona compared to the freezing cold in Massachusetts. Taylor brought up an interesting point I hadn't thought about; she said that she would prefer the heat because I had shared before that my school was based outside with no halls, she said it was probably nice to get some fresh air once in awhile. What I heard next shocked me; I like the cold, but I didn't expect everyone interviewed to say that they like the cold better than the heat. Even my own sister, who had grown up in warm climates...

The Movie Wonder Was Made Well

By: Lexi Fisichelli Wonder is a movie about a boy who has never looked ordinary since the day he was born. His mom has homeschooled him for his entire life. When his parents tell him that he is going to start middle school at a real school, he freaks out. They had to leave some things out of the movie that were kind of important in the book. One important thing they left out was how Auggie got a hearing aid. I think that the book was good because you could really use your imagination, but they both did very well. At Village School in Marblehead MA, every fourth grader reads the book, Wonder . Then last month, the movie Wonder came out. Samantha Roman, a sixth grader at the village school, has read the book and seen the movie. “I like the movie I thought they did good with it,” said Roman. She said that she liked how the book had sections with a different character's perspective every time. She also said that personally, she likes to read the book first then ...

New Student Comes To The Team BG6

by Jake B.   Two weeks ago, two new students came to the Village School from Arizona: Ryder and Seren G. Ryder is on team BG6 and Seren is in fourth grade with Mrs. Welsh. Ryder G. said, “I don’t like the heat in Arizona.” He also said, “the teams on each classroom are different from Arizona.”    Ryder said that the people in Arizona are not very different from in Boston.  In comparison, he said, Arizona is an 8 out of ten. Boston is an 9 out of ten. Ryder said that the Marblehead school curriculum  is not very different from the Arizona school curriculum, but having two different teachers is different from his old school.

Hanukkah: a different holiday, just as fun!

by Maddie C. Some people think it’s almost the same as Christmas. Looking at the facts, not really. Christmas is celebrated for one day but Hanukkah is celebrated over eight days, starting this year on Tuesday, December 12th and ends on Wednesday, December 20th. Also, they have very differently themed food. “My favorite food is latkes,” Rachael says. Latkes are potato pancakes that are perhaps best known as traditional Hanukkah food. Made with potatoes, onion and matzah or breadcrumbs, these crispy treats symbolize the miracle of Hanukkah because they are fried in oil. “I like lighting the candles,” Rachael says,” Most people would probably say presents.” Over the eight days, each day you light a candle on the menorah. They light the eight candles on the menorah because of the miracle of when the Seleucid forces destroyed the Temple by extinguishing the eternal light. This was really important at the time and people were shocked at what they did. When the Maccabees ga...
