I am a new 6th-grade student at Village School, and I have recently moved from Phoenix, Arizona. Everyone has treated me well. but I wondered what they thought about the differences between Phoenix and Boston.
Without a doubt, the biggest difference was the climate. Arizona could get up to 120 degrees if you are in the right place in the summer, and there is snow in Boston in the winter. I asked a few of my fellow students what they thought about it being so hot in Arizona compared to the freezing cold in Massachusetts. Taylor brought up an interesting point I hadn't thought about; she said that she would prefer the heat because I had shared before that my school was based outside with no halls, she said it was probably nice to get some fresh air once in awhile.
What I heard next shocked me; I like the cold, but I didn't expect everyone interviewed to say that they like the cold better than the heat. Even my own sister, who had grown up in warm climates for her entire life, said she like the cold better. I guess that had to do with the snow.
My sister also said, “ I love the snow because she got to throw it at my brother!” I have to say, we had a pretty good snowball fight. My sister also countered what Taylor had said since she like the inside halls better than the outside, and as an overall state, she liked Massachusetts better.
In Arizona, there were tons of mountains; one of my favorite things to do in the winter was to go up to Flagstaff and enjoy the snow in the mountains we would go to Snowbowl, a popular skiing place. Jason from BG6 said he would not like to have more big mountains in massachusetts, even when I brought up the fact that he would be able to ski when they get tons of snow in the winter, and he still replied no. I was surprised. He to said he enjoyed the cold. I probably would have said otherwise, but I guess I'm going to have to live with it, after all, now that I live in Massachusetts, I’ll have to deal with the cold; I'm going to need a few jackets!
