New Student Comes To The Team BG6

Two weeks ago, two new students came to the Village School from Arizona: Ryder and Seren G. Ryder is on team BG6 and Seren is in fourth grade with Mrs. Welsh.

Ryder G. said, “I don’t like the heat in Arizona.” He also said, “the teams on each classroom are different from Arizona.”

Ryder said that the people in Arizona are not very different from in Boston. In comparison, he said, Arizona is an 8 out of ten. Boston is an 9 out of ten.

Ryder said that the Marblehead school curriculum is not very different from the Arizona school curriculum, but having two different teachers is different from his old school.

What is it like to be a Long Term Substitute?

By: Jack B. This year Ms. Harris took over for a fourth-grade teacher and is a long-term sub for fourth grade. In October, Ms. Sweet went out and Ms. Harris came in as a long-term substitute. I asked her about being a long-term sub and how she started teaching and other questions. She said, “It is weird starting in a new class because I feel weird when I start anything new.” I went on and asked her about how she started teaching and she said that both of her parents were teachers and she thought that it would be fun working with kids. She also said that she started at Village School and that she wanted to teach for the rest of her life. She also said she would like to work with kids for the rest of her life if she couldn’t teach anymore. She said that teaching is her favorite job in the world and it would be fantastic to teach for the rest of her career.

The Movie Wonder Was Made Well

By: Lexi Fisichelli Wonder is a movie about a boy who has never looked ordinary since the day he was born. His mom has homeschooled him for his entire life. When his parents tell him that he is going to start middle school at a real school, he freaks out. They had to leave some things out of the movie that were kind of important in the book. One important thing they left out was how Auggie got a hearing aid. I think that the book was good because you could really use your imagination, but they both did very well. At Village School in Marblehead MA, every fourth grader reads the book, Wonder . Then last month, the movie Wonder came out. Samantha Roman, a sixth grader at the village school, has read the book and seen the movie. “I like the movie I thought they did good with it,” said Roman. She said that she liked how the book had sections with a different character's perspective every time. She also said that personally, she likes to read the book first then ...

Islanders U12 Team participates in CAN/AM International Tournament

The Can/Am Hockey Tournament takes place every year in Lake Placid NY, teams from all around North America come to Lake Placid to participate. “ The reason we do tournaments like this is to give the team an opportunity to play challenging teams from other parts of North America,” Sue Twombly, U12 Islanders Mj. 2 team manager says. And indeed we did. The Islanders lost their first 1-6 against the Clarington Flames, from Ontario. The Clarington Flames played a whole different game against us than we’re used to. I mean they are Canadians after all, it’s in their blood right? The whole game they were pushing and shoving, knocking us down and taking slap shots straight at us, boy were they good… and mean. We didn’t lose every game, we beat one team, the Flameboro Falcons, who were also from Ontario, The first time we played them we beat them 6-4, it was a pretty good game, we played really well throughout. The next game we were playing our rivals, the Minuteman Lady...
